Welcome to my website,

This website is constructed as a Grad Project for school. It is a resource website that aims to promote literacy in children between the ages of 4-7.

I first started discovering edtech when I was asked to write a blog about it. I am happy that I did because now I have an archive of my journey. I then started exploring the concept of literacy and what it means to be literate, as well as developing my PLN on Twitter. Then I discovered the world of electronic literature!

At this time I began to realize that I had come across so many amazing resources that I wanted to share and did not want to forget about, so a resource website seemed like the best idea to keep everything together!

I have attached my blog just under my video introduction for your convenience. Please note my Twitter and Pintrest pages beside it.

Before constructing this website I wrote a paper that looks at literacy as symbol systems. You can also find that under my video introduction.

I would love to hear for you! Tell me how you are using the tools that I am posting and suggest others for me to try! My goal is to always build on this website so I can provide tools for others and myself.

Thank you for visiting, I hope you discover new resources to try!

Above is my supporting research for the website.

Here is the abstract of my paper in order to gain a sense of what it is about.

This paper will be looking at literacy as a symbol system one uses to make sense of their world in social and global contexts. It will focus on how children between the ages of four and six develop and apply symbol systems. It will discuss how multiliteracies can help educators support classroom learning and nurture the interests of children. It draws on the Reggio Emilia philosophy to explain how literacy is a constant process for both teacher and student. The paper will then go on to explain how the presence of technology in the classroom can be used for supporting the development of multiliteracies in children who are first attending school. As well, the paper will provide a brief historical understanding of literacy; cultural differences in the use of technology and the downside of technology if it is not used properly.
